YOUR NEW PAL, AND CANDID FUN CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHER

I'm Alicia, a Canadian wedding and elopement photographer who'll go anywhere with good company, as long as its what you want.
As comfortable as I am with change (actually I love it) I do love nostalgia. I love looking back on memories. I love being able to teleport back to a moment or a feeling or a time where you experienced something. I hold so much value in photographs, which is why I have way too many photo albums. But it's because I always have more regret when I don’t have photos to look back on, vs when I do. And I want to be able to give people that- without having to compromise actually experiencing the moment. Because experiencing the moment or the place or the people or the time of life is the most important part. The photos to look back on are your key to holding onto those memories, and places, and experiences, and times of life. Being a photographer also lets me romanticize the shit out of everything I can take a picture of. From the concept, to the composition, to the settings, to the editing… It helps me craft a story. Even if it's from thin air. To be able to freeze movement, and to show movement at the same time. To show emotions, through faces, bodies, touches, and candid reactions. To show how your adventure is art- no matter what it might look like.

A messy mix of big wild adventures and small real flashes of emotion

When I first started photography, I was a perfectionist. I was determined to make everything as perfect as possible. Whether it was the location, the lighting, and posing, the setting… all of it had to be perfect and a certain way. This is also because I really first started my photography journey when I decided to go to college for photography. And obviously we’re taught that everything has to be a certain way, and it has to be perfect. But one thing that has always stuck with me as a photographer, is my love for candid moments, and peoples stories.

Fast forward to now, where I have several years of not only working with other photographers, but also being creative on my own- where there are no rules. And as I’ve gotten to work with more people, I’ve been able to experience and witness so many different stories. I've also learned that my love for the mountains and the outdoors in general is what keeps me here in Alberta, and well Canada in general. So I’ve learned that there is no cookie cutter way to be a photographer. And there's no way you can be the same cut for all of your clients. You adapt depending on the story you’re capturing and the people themselves. Which is what has made me into the photographer I am today. Focused on capturing things truthfully, and as candidly as possible. While still making the actual experience my #1 priority.
